Following the previous blog entry I have decided to go with a subtle peachy tone for the environment, I think this works really nicely, Here are are two shots of the lights positioned and turned on.

Lighting Units
Today I worked on a lighting unit model, heres what I came up with:
Another old texture from my texture library, originally taken from a scanned sheet of metal with various duplication overlays, opacity changes and brushes applied.
A simple but effective phong material with a peachy tone, set to glow in the materials properties
The final result gives a very warm looking light, I plan to light the entire store with this colour.

Pallet Model
Tonight I worked on a pallet model for my shop environment, Since the scene is set at night time I figured there would be plenty of pallets throughout the store to replenish stock sold during the day time, I thought it was important to model a pallet model, heres what I come up with:
I re-used the previous texture for the item props as I felt it worked pretty well for a pallet texture.

Basic props and Building Externals
Today too add further variation I modelled up some basic props to be placed on the previously modelled item stands, to keep things quick and save time (since these models wont be seen much) I simply applied an automatic UV map to these models and placed a simple wood texture from my texture library over the full UV map, simply acting as a 'skin' texture.
I also started work on the exterior of the building (please see fourth and fifth images).
Source texture from my own texture library, I simply tiled the texture with my tiling technique so the texture could act as a skin for the models.
Models with the final texture applied.

Item cages
This week amongst other work I worked on a item cage for the store environment Throughout an ikea store there are many cages that stock gets placed in, I modelled one of these to be duplicated throughout the environment.
To achieve the model I simply started off with a basic cube, inserted another cube inside the first cube and 'cut out' the middle section of the first cube with the second cube using an intersection boolean, I repeated this step for the holes in the side of the cage, I simply placed 5x5 cubes on each side of the main cube and subtracted giving the final model.
